Production of the Week
The Vidiots Foundation is killin’ it! They always have something fun going on. If you haven’t been to any of their screenings, you’ve truly missed out. All right, here is your chance to make up for it. This Sunday (Aug. 2 at 7:30 pm), skip, hop, jump, walk or whatever it is you do on over to Vidiots (306 Pico Blvd.) and prove yourself to be a knowledgable movie buff at their Movie Trivia Night!
You can ride solo or create a team. Either way, it’s $10 a person. First place gets unlimited FREE rentals for a month, plus their very own “picks” shelf at Vidiots, everybody’s favorite old school video rental stop. You may bring your own beverages, but soda and popcorn are provided.
So come out and test your wit!

Publication of the Week
You dig grub, right? Who doesn’t? Well, this cookbook is widely different than most. It feeds the mind and fills the appetite of the soul. Poetry speaks to a part of humanity outside that of contemporary or historical knowledge and its elegance plays the heart like an instrument. Bring in The Existentialist Cookbook by Shawnte Orion.
Orion, an Arizona settler, is giving a poetry reading at Beyond Baroque to promote his debut collection. This is not too uncommon for Orion, he gives monthly poetry readings in his home state. This event is happening tonight at 8 pm, with a $5 suggested donation.

Performance of the Week
You can never have enough comedy in your life. Use your favorite gait to get to the Westside Comedy Theater tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 31). “Unnecessary Evil” is a stand-up show that in its first year got recognition from CBS for being one of the best up-and-coming stand-up shows in Los Angeles! So go support the Westside! Comedies from great places like Last Comic Standing, Funny or Die and Comedy Central.
If you can’t make it to this event, then find your way to another one cause this place has people pissin’ themselves. Am I allowed to say that? (Shrugs shoulders) They have them laughing really, really hard.
Doors open at 7:45 pm and the show is $10.
