Growing up in Kentucky, I was so down with “Charlie’s Angels.” They stood tall before adversity and said, “I’ll figure out an answer.” Cool chicks saving the day. I attended law school to learn to help others, not necessarily in a courtroom, and pursued a master’s degree in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University. But it was when I volunteered for an arts organization that I saw how much I was needed. At Giive, we make a difference for those who make a difference in other people’s lives. It’s helping on such a grand scale, giving people the tools and information on how to be more effective. We can touch more lives than we imagine. Maybe people will meet me somewhere and think, “I should volunteer.” My family back home always told me, “No one is better than you … and you’re no better than anyone else.” Even if you’re a cool chick trying to save the day.
