It’s a time-honored tradition in the military. No matter their rank, the men returning home who are new fathers are first off the ship or plane to see their loved ones. A proper welcome helps a military veteran feel at home. The USO provides food and gifts to greet the returnees and their families.
In Sgt. Christopher Anderson’s case, his trip home was a lonely one. He’d lost his left leg to an explosive device and his right leg was left as “lump salvage.” But his heart was with the men and women of his unit who saved him.
He was looking forward to surprising his family by walking through the doors, but the surprise was on him. The USO Northwest arranged to have several of his unit sent to greet him. The USO NW made Sgt. Anderson’s homecoming the right one to help him begin his new journey.
